Return to Phase II: Guidelines for Mass Attendance

Please be advised of the following: a message from Archbishop Aymond in response to today’s announcement from Governor Edwards:
For churches – 75% occupancy remains with the understanding that  masks are MANDATED and social distancing of 6 ft. is required except for family members.  This is effective November 25th(tomorrow) until December 23rd.
For St. Jane Church 75% occupancy means 225, however, with the social distance requirement that number will go down some.  Please be attentive to any announcements or instructions from ushers, clergy or other volunteers.  A practical suggestion, please keep space in the pew you occupy and please do not sit directly in front or behind anyone.
We will also begin to insist on masks for all who attend Mass.  If you do not come to Mass with a mask, one will be given to you.  As a Catholic and a parishioner worshipping in an Archdiocesan Church we know we can expect your full cooperation and support.
If for any reason you feel ill, in any way, or may have been exposed to someone with Coronavirus, please stay home.  Remember, the dispensation about attending Mass during a pandemic is still in place.
Also know that we are making plans and provisions for the upcoming Christmas liturgies; more information forthcoming.
Two more announcements: please attempt to social distance as you come forward for Holy Communion.  Please stagger your place in line between you and the person in front of you or to the side of you.  And for those who receive Holy Communion on the tongue, please come only after all those who have received on the hand.
We all acknowledge the unpleasantness of having to make changes in direct response to the pandemic and government mandate.  However, our Archbishop is asking us to respect these instructions and we are called to be obedient while we are called to be our brother’s keeper.
We will get through this together with the help of God.
