The funeral Mass for Ben Spansel will begin at 12 Noon, preceded by visitation, prayer, and words of remembrance, which will start at 11am. The Church will be open prior to that.
Benjamin Louis Spansel, died on Saturday May 13, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Covington, Louisiana and was a long time resident of Bush Louisiana, and currently resided in Lafayette, Louisiana.
He was the beloved son of Billy and Cheryl Spansel. He attended Fifth Ward, and graduated from Covington High School in 2010, where he was a member of the Covington High School Marching Band. He achieved his FAA certification in Aviation Maintenance in 2013 from Acadiana Technical in Lafayette, Louisiana.
He was employed as an Airframe and Powerplant Technician at Express Jet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Benjamin was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2009. He achieved his Eagle rank upon completion of an outdoor deck in the front of Covington High School.
Benjamin is survived by his parents Billy and Cheryl, his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Patricia Cuccia, of Pearl River Louisiana; and his paternal grandparents, William and Mildred Spansel of Kenner Louisiana. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Brittney Watson of New Iberia, Louisiana and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who all loved him dearly.
